I picked up my first video camera in 2003. I was thirteen, filming my friends skateboarding, and a few of them went on to turn pro. I've been filming weddings in Houston since 2016, and I'm still chasing the same thing I was back then: real moments, caught as they happen.
Filming skating taught me to watch closely, and to be ready before the moment happens. That's how I film weddings. Your dad's hands shaking before the toast, the laugh you didn't know anyone caught, the vows you won't remember saying. I work quietly, so you can be with your people instead of performing for a camera.
I also work as a filmmaker for the Houston Museum of Natural Science, surrounded by things people decided were worth preserving. I think your wedding belongs in that category too.
And when I'm not filming weddings or the museum, I'm back in the streets where it all started, filming skating. There isn't a day that goes by that I don't pick up my camera.
